Summary: The Design Manager role involves leading a multi-disciplinary design team within the water industry, focusing on managing design delivery and ensuring quality and time expectations are met. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct and develop engineers, CAD technicians and graduates.
- Grow the design team and maintain a positive ethos and attitude within the team.
- Lead the design process on multidisciplinary water industry projects.
- Challenge, improve and shape formal processes and procedures for the design team.
- Identify and implement appropriate software packages, and drive the use of BIM and 3D modelling.
- Ensure team produces design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements.
- Ensure team produces design deliverables within agreed timescales and hours.
- Ensure team uses appropriate standards, best practice and software tools.
- Ensure project change for design packages is fully recorded.
- Assist with estimating hours required for design packages.
Key Skills:
- 10 years’ experience working in the engineering design industry in a regulated sector, ideally water or wastewater projects.
- Graduate or HND.
- Good level IT skills.
- Experience in the regulated water industry.
- Track record managing multidisciplinary design teams and projects.
- Experience building teams and capability of junior staff.
- Driving licence & access to a vehicle.

PURPOSE
