Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver civil, structural, and geotechnical design solutions in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Support projects through all stages of design development, from feasibility studies to detailed design.
- Produce and review technical calculations, reports, drawings, and design documentation.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary design teams to develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Attend design reviews and contribute to technical discussions and value engineering initiatives.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases where required.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, and client specifications.
- Assist with risk assessments, design reviews, and quality assurance processes.
- Support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
Key Skills:
- Degree-level qualification (Level 6 or Level 7) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Working towards professional chartership with a recognised industry body such as ICE or IStructE.
- Demonstrable experience delivering civil and structural infrastructure design projects.
- Strong technical understanding of engineering design principles and relevant standards.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience working within the rail or water sectors (desirable).
- Knowledge of WIMES and/or client-specific asset standards (desirable).
- Experience working on water or wastewater treatment projects (desirable).
- Exposure to mechanical and electrical design elements, including hydraulic calculations, pump selection, or related systems (desirable).
- Experience working within multidisciplinary design and build environments (desirable).
