I’m working with an established electricity network owner looking to appoint two Design Engineers to support an extensive pipeline of electricity network adoption projects.
They are looking for a Senior EHV Design Engineer with experience ideally up to 132kV and an HV/LV Design Engineer with experience across distribution networks up to 33kV.
The roles will involve: Reviewing and appraising electricity network designs submitted by developers and ICPs. Assessing designs against DNO, company and wider industry standards. Reviewing primary electrical designs, substations, cable calculations and earthing studies. Interpreting protection philosophies and assessing network resilience. Reviewing CAD drawings, technical calculations and supporting documentation. Identifying technical risks, design issues and areas of non-compliance. Providing technical comments and challenging designs where required. Liaising with external design engineers throughout the review and resubmission process. Managing a portfolio of projects and design submissions. Working alongside project delivery leads to meet agreed SLAs. Supporting junior engineers and providing technical guidance where appropriate.
Experience required: Previous electricity distribution design experience. Background within a DNO, IDNO, ICP or similar organisation. Senior candidates should ideally have primary system design experience up to 132kV. HV/LV candidates should have design experience across LV, 11kV or 33kV networks. Strong understanding of electricity distribution design standards. Experience using CAD to review, navigate and interrogate technical drawings.
