Summary: The Design Engineer role involves working on airframe structure design engineering development within an engineering services organization in Bristol. The position is initially a 12-month contract, offering hybrid working arrangements, and requires expertise in eVTOL aircraft design and composite and metallic structures. The engineer will be responsible for delivering professional design engineering services, including creating and checking model-based definitions and ensuring design compliance with specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare composite and metallic structure detail and assembly definitions.
  • Deliver professional design engineering services weekly for the duration of the engagement.
  • Create and cross-check model-based definitions within the 3D Experience digital mock-up (DMU).
  • Define design solutions for new components/assemblies and modifications to existing components.
  • Provide evidence of design compliance with customer/technical specifications.
  • Prepare drawings and engineering data required for manufacturing and customer data submittal.
  • Produce Engineering Change Notices (ECN) as required to support manufacturing and quality.

Key Skills:

  • Design engineering experience with airframe structure - metallic and/or composite aero structures.
  • Excellent knowledge of aero structures, including wing, empennage, and fuselage.
  • Proficient in computerized design and analysis methods (CATIA V5).
  • Experience with GD&T (tolerance stack-up).
  • Good knowledge of aerospace composite (honeycomb) and metallic materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Awareness of aircraft industry standards, regulations, and qualification requirements.
