Summary: The Deputy Service Design & Transition Lead will support large-scale IT and digital transformation programmes in the public sector, acting as the deputy to the Service Design & Transition Lead. This role involves ensuring effective service architecture design and the smooth transition of technology services into operational environments. Strong stakeholder engagement and supplier management skills are essential, along with previous public sector experience, particularly in policing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the deputy to the Service Design & Transition Lead across major transformation programmes.
- Support the design and implementation of service architectures for complex IT systems and digital services.
- Ensure successful transition of large-scale technology services into live operational support environments.
- Work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to maintain service readiness and operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to supplier and commercial management activities, ensuring services meet contractual and operational requirements.
- Provide service-related input into contractual discussions and governance activities.
- Collaborate with project and programme teams to ensure alignment between delivery, operations, and business objectives.
- Identify and manage service risks, dependencies, and transition challenges.
- Maintain strong communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the service lifecycle.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in Service Design and Transition within large-scale IT or digital transformation programmes.
- Strong experience working within the Public Sector (mandatory).
- Policing sector experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience supporting transition of services into live operational environments.
- Strong supplier and commercial management experience.
- Experience contributing to service-related contractual discussions.
- Excellent project management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Broad technical IT knowledge with a strong understanding of how support services impact wider business operations.
