Summary: The Deputy Programme Manager will play a crucial role in establishing an efficient digital programme management function for a public sector client, focusing on best practices in project management. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the management of multiple project artefacts while supporting the Programme Board. The role is hybrid, based out of Edinburgh, for an initial duration of 6 months and is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shape and set up an efficient digital programme management function that promotes programme/project management best practices. Coach others on project/programme management.
- Produce and manage multiple project artefacts such as RAID logs, project plans, communication plans, business cases and board papers.
- Support the Programme Board by managing the board secretariat. Support those preparing board papers.
- Report progress across various boards and forums, and support the Programme Delivery Manager.
- Lead on the follow-up and completion of recommendations from assurance reviews embedding best practice and driving improvement across the programme.
- Encourage effective team working, leading by example and embedding ways of working that contribute to delivering as one across the programme.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues in the division, PMO, and organisation as a whole to champion and embed an efficient and effective PPM into the management of the Legacy Services Programme.
- Respond and coordinate to corporate asks and deputise for Programme Delivery Manager as required.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience of project and programme management in the digital programme is essential, as is a strong ability to plan and engage collaboratively with stakeholders.
- Experience of managing governance for digital projects/programmes in the public sector. An understanding of Scottish Public Sector governance would be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and experience of working in multi-disciplinary digital teams within complex, active programme environment.
- Experience of programme assurance ensuring adherence to agreed policies, standards and principles.
