An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dental Nurse Team Leader based at North West Area Centre Kilmarnock.
What You Will Do
NHS Ayrshire & Arran Health Board, Public Dental Service is looking to recruit a Dental Nurse Team Leader to work and lead a team of Dental Nurses, Receptionists and LDU Operators. The post will bebased at Northwest Area Centre Kilmarnock. The post holder will undertake all aspects of line management for dental nurse team, reception staff and LDU Operators and will be responsible for the appraisal and supervision of dental nurses, receptionists and LDU Operators and will facilitate best practice through promotion of the principles of clinical governance while focusing firmly on quality and safety. You will need to demonstrate a thorough understanding of, and commitment to upholding clinical standards. You will provide chair side assistance to clinicians and promote the highest standards of excellence in working practices to maintain the highest quality of patient care. You will be responsible and accountable for the day to day operational management of Public Dental Service dental clinics in your area both weekday and weekend in conjunction with PDS clinical and administrative leads. Provide a clinical leadership role giving professional, clinical advice and support to the weekday and weekend dental team to ensure the best quality services are being provided in line with General Dental Council Standards. The post holder will need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership and line management of staff, with the ability to work independently, proactively and under pressure.
Working with the Public Dental Service the ideal candidate(s) must be registered with the General Dental Council and hold the National Certificate in Dental Nursing or Oral Health Care Dental Nursing SVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification. A current portfolio of Continuing Professional Development is essential.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job
A dental post qualification certificate with experience in relevant field of expertise is essential Radiography, Sedation, Special Care, OHP. A leadership/ management qualification or equivalent experience would be desirable. Knowledge of HR policies and procedures is desirable. Leadership skills including influencing, well developed listening skills and interpreting skills including diplomacy and discretion is essential Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, time management and team working skills are essential as is the ability to work unsupervised using own initiative.
