Summary: The Database Administrator (DBA) role focuses on optimizing the performance, reliability, and scalability of critical databases, particularly SQL Server and Azure Cosmos DB, within a public sector context. Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, and support SQL Server environments across development, test, and production.
- Manage and optimise Azure Cosmos DB workloads for cost-effective, scalable performance.
- Perform proactive capacity planning, patching, and upgrades.
- Identify and resolve database performance issues impacting Legacy systems.
- Improve query and indexing strategies, schema design, and execution plans.
- Ensure compliance with data legislation and security standards (GDPR, government policy).
- Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to support service transformation initiatives.

One of Loriens Public Sector clients are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong SQL Server expertise and hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB to join their engineering team. This role is critical to optimising the performance, reliability, and scalability of mission-critical databases supporting a large Legacy application currently facing latency challenges.
