Summary: As a Db2 system programmer, you will ensure the performance, integrity, maintenance, and security of the database estate in the UK, supporting over 50 Db2 subsystems across various mainframes. The role involves installing and testing new versions of Db2, managing distributed Db2 connections, and ensuring the stability of a responsive OLTP environment. You will also be responsible for capacity planning, monitoring performance, and managing security and disaster recovery aspects of the database. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and test new versions of Db2 / Function Levels
  • Continuous delivery of maintenance for Db2 and associated tools

Role Summary: As a Db2 system programmer you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, maintenance and security of our database estate in the UK. The UK Db2 system programmer team is responsible for large-scale environments, supporting 50+ Db2 subsystems across various mainframes and geographies. You will be required to work as part of the team to support all aspects of Db2 for z/OS activities.

As a Db2 for z/OS specialist, you’ll need to:

  • Install and test new versions Db2 / Function Levels

Working hours Working hours are usually 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Work may be required during unsocial hours (overnight and weekends) to support activities during periods of low usage. A successful applicant may be required to support an on-call rota responding to critical issues outside of business hours (overnight and weekends).
