Summary: The role of Datacentre Engineer involves leading a team while ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of data centre infrastructure for a leading Financial Services customer in the Electronic trading sector. The position requires hands-on expertise in managing complex datacentre projects, vendor relationships, and collaboration across various technical teams. This is a 12-month on-site contract that demands a strong background in financial services and extensive experience in data centre operations. The role is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure seamless operation, maintenance, & troubleshooting of data centre infrastructure.
• Install, configure, & maintain servers, networking hardware, & storage systems.
• Manage incidents & provide swift, effective solutions.
• Monitor power, cooling, & space to keep systems running optimally.
• Collaborate with teams across Networks, Unix, & Storage for smooth operations.
• Handle vendor relationships & ensure compliance with best practices.
• Maintain meticulous documentation using tools like Visio, Confluence, & Jira.

Key Skills:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in data centre operations.
• Strong cabling skills (structured fibre & copper).
• Expertise in hardware from Dell, HP, Cisco, & Arista.
• Ability to work independently, especially out of hours.
• Experience with Excel, Visio, Confluence, & Jira.
• Excellent communication skills & ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
