Summary: The Datacentre Engineer role involves supporting critical IT infrastructure within a leading IT consultancy in East Lothian. The position is initially a 6-month associate contract with the potential for permanent employment. Responsibilities include providing hardware support, managing installations and configurations, and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of datacentre operations. The role requires hands-on experience and strong problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 3rd line hardware break/fix support across a modern x86 server estate.
- Handling full IMAC services - installs, moves, and decommissions - using enterprise tools such as ServiceNow, CMDB, and vendor provisioning platforms.
- Acting as smart-hands support for infrastructure and security teams, from initial troubleshooting to RMA replacement, installation, and basic configuration of hardware.
- Supporting tape library operations (loading/ejecting) as part of wider backup management processes.
- Occasionally travelling between two nearby datacentre sites (minimal requirement).
