Summary: The role of System Administrator focuses on managing and optimizing the Software AG ecosystem, specifically Adabas and Natural Security, ensuring reliability, security, performance, and user enablement. The position involves administering critical databases, enforcing secure access, supporting data analytics, and managing changes across various environments. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain production, test, and development environments.
- Perform and monitor nightly backups.
- Refresh lower environments with production data as needed.
- Manage DDMs and operational scripts.
- Configure and maintain security/authorization for files and applications.
- Manage access changes for transfers/terminations.
- Execute routine audits and process security requests promptly.
- Evaluate and recommend tools for Adabas data extraction.
- Install, configure, and maintain query products (e.g., CONNX).
- Design and maintain user data catalogs.
- Create user guides, training materials, and conduct training sessions.
- Guide file and schema modifications across dev/test/prod.
- Write and maintain scripts to support applications and operations.
- Maintain the formal data dictionary and ensure full documentation of changes.
- Research and recommend performance/resilience improvements.
- Implement hardware/software upgrades to maintain supported versions.
- Address system vulnerabilities proactively.

Key Skills:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with Software AG Adabas and Natural in production environments.
- Strong background in administering Natural Security and CONNX (or comparable Adabas data access tools).
- Proficiency with environment refreshes, backup/restore procedures, performance tuning, and scripting (Natural utilities).
- Practical experience with role-based access control, security reviews, and audit documentation in regulated environments.
- Knowledge of SDLC/change control processes across dev/test/prod.
- Experience maintaining a formal data dictionary.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to author user guides and support business users.

About the Role
We are seeking a System Administrator to own and optimize our Software AG ecosystem primarily Adabas and Natural Security with a strong focus on reliability, security, performance, and user enablement.
