Summary: We're seeking a Senior Database Engineer with extensive expertise in Postgres and TimescaleDB to enhance our data infrastructure for optimal performance and reliability. The role involves designing and optimizing database schemas, managing data aggregation pipelines, and collaborating with data scientists. The ideal candidate will also lead query performance tuning and ensure data lifecycle performance from ingestion to analytics delivery. This position can be based remotely or in Sandy, Utah.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize Postgres/TimescaleDB schemas, aggregates, and calculated fields for time-series and relational workloads
  • Develop and manage advanced data aggregation pipelines for large-scale IoT telemetry
  • Collaborate with data scientists to build and deploy clustering, forecasting, and classification models in the future Data Lab environment
  • Participate in microservice development, ensuring seamless integration with backend APIs and SaaS components
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to refine requirements, prototype solutions, and translate use cases into database-driven capabilities
  • Own data lifecycle performance - from ingestion to analytics delivery - ensuring scalability and resilience
  • Lead query performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and sharding strategies

Key Skills:

  • 5+ years of professional experience with PostgreSQL (including TimescaleDB or other time-series extensions)
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and microservice data design
  • Expertise with SQL, PL/pgSQL, and data aggregation frameworks
  • Familiarity with data modeling for analytics, machine learning pipelines, and metadata management
  • Familiarity with Docker & Kubernetes (for dev environments)
  • C# for microservices

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
