Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize mission-critical SQL Server database environments.
- Oversee clustering and Always On Availability Groups.
- Ensure database integrity, security, and optimal performance across development, test, and production environments.
- Maintain high availability and minimize downtime.
Key Skills:
- Extensive expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2000-2017).
- Proven experience with Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) and Always On Availability Groups.
- Experience in large, complex SQL Server environments in fast-paced industries.
- Familiarity with Azure SQL and modernization strategies.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Exposure to AWS RDS for SQL Server.

We are representing a market-leading retail client who are looking to hire a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to join their team. This is a highly technical role that blends deep expertise with strategic thinking, offering the chance to manage and optimise mission-critical database environments within this dynamic and fast-paced organisation.
As the Senior SQL Server DBA, you will take ownership of large-scale SQL Server environments, managing everything from clustering and Always On Availability Groups to performance tuning and disaster recovery. You'll be responsible for ensuring database integrity, security, and optimal performance across development, test, and production environments, while maintaining high availability and minimising downtime.
We are looking for:
- Extensive expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2000-2017), including installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Proven experience with Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) and Always On Availability Groups
- Experience in large, complex SQL Server environments in fast-paced industries
It would be a bonus if you had:
- Familiarity with Azure SQL and modernization strategies for migration into newer environments
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and CI/CD pipeline integration
- Exposure to AWS RDS for SQL Server
