Summary: The Database Administrator will support teams in managing the charity's database, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with data protection regulations. This hands-on role involves maintaining data reporting processes, collaborating with external support, and providing technical expertise for database improvements. The postholder will also be responsible for training staff on database usage and best practices. The position is a 12-month contract with a focus on enhancing data management within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain the charity’s database systems, ensuring accurate data input and retrieval.
  • Implement data security policies in line with GDPR and monitor for vulnerabilities.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize database performance, including scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Provide analytical reports and insights based on database data.
  • Assist staff with database tools and provide training on data management best practices.
  • Ensure regular updates and testing of database systems for functionality and security.
  • Undertake additional duties as requested by the Chief Executive or Trustees.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in managing and administering databases, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Working knowledge of relational database management systems.
  • Understanding of data protection laws, particularly GDPR.
  • Knowledge of database backup and recovery processes.
  • Ability to create reports and provide actionable insights from data.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for database performance issues.
  • Experience with Windows operating environments and office software.
  • Effective communication skills with non-technical staff.
  • Attention to detail and proactive organizational skills.
  • Commitment to the charity's values and adaptability to new tools.
