Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the migration of large-scale MongoDB environments into AWS DocumentDB
- Designing and optimising highly available, secure and resilient DocumentDB clusters

- Driving database performance tuning, monitoring and optimisation activities
- Supporting migration execution using AWS DMS and associated tooling
- Establishing operational standards, governance and best practice across the database estate
- Working closely with Cloud, DevOps and Engineering teams to deliver a successful transformation programme

We're supporting one of the UK's most ambitious cloud and database transformation programmes and currently looking for an experienced Database Administrator / Database Engineer to play a critical role in the project. This isn't a BAU DBA contract. You'll be joining a high-profile programme responsible for migrating a substantial legacy database estate into a modern, AWS-native architecture. At the heart of the project is the migration of complex MongoDB environments into AWS DocumentDB, helping deliver a platform capable of supporting millions of customer interactions at enterprise scale. For experienced database professionals, opportunities to influence a migration of this size and complexity don't come around often.
The Challenge You'll lead the database workstream across a major modernisation programme, owning the migration, optimisation and ongoing performance of critical NoSQL environments. Working alongside Cloud, Platform and Engineering teams, you'll help shape the future-state database architecture while ensuring a seamless transition from legacy MongoDB environments into a secure, resilient and highly scalable AWS ecosystem.
