The role
Contract Data Test Engineer needed to act as the quality gate between data engineering and UAT on a data lakehouse programme. You will build automated testing across the pipelines and carry out hands-on manual testing of individual data products.
- Build reusable automated test frameworks and pipelines for the lakehouse and its data pipelines.
- Automate validation across medallion layers: schema, reconciliation, completeness, transformation accuracy, Data Quality rules.
- Own SIT and end-to-end testing between engineering unit test and UAT.
- Manual and exploratory testing of data products - calculations, business rules, outputs, user experience.
- Manage defects through remediation, retest and regression; provide clear test evidence for UAT readiness.
Essential skills
- Automated and manual testing in modern data environments.
- Designing and building reusable automated data-testing frameworks or pipelines.
- Testing ETL/ELT pipelines across ingestion, transformation and curated layers.
- Strong understanding of lakehouse and medallion architectures.
- Strong SQL and data reconciliation skills.
- SIT, end-to-end, regression testing and defect management.
- Agile delivery, working with data engineers, architects and business stakeholders.
