Summary: The Data Technical Specialist role within the Natural Capital and Ecosystems Assessment (NCEA) programme focuses on developing automated processes for analyzing and managing data related to the Estuarine and Coastal water environment. The position involves building analytical tools, data management solutions, and providing training to colleagues. This role is integral to enhancing the understanding and assessment of ecological outcomes at a national scale. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a dispersed team while ensuring high-quality data outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build analytical data tools to process monitoring, ecological, and habitat data for national assessments.
- Develop data management solutions to support new coastal monitoring networks.
- Create guidance and support for tool handover to other users.
- Provide data skills training and support to colleagues.
Key Skills:
- Experience in developing automated data integration processes in ETL applications such as SAFE FME.
- Ability to work with spatial data and familiarity with tools like ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Enterprise, Power BI, ‘R’, SQL, and Python.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality in data analysis.
- Experience in data management and the ability to work well in a dispersed team.
- Knowledge of Environment Agency monitoring data and systems is beneficial.
