Summary: The Data Technical Specialist role within the Natural Capital and Ecosystems Assessment (NCEA) programme focuses on developing automated processes for analyzing monitoring data related to the Estuarine and Coastal water environment. The position involves building analytical tools, data management solutions, and providing training to colleagues. This role is integral to enhancing the assessment of ecological outcomes at a national scale. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a dispersed team to deliver high-quality data management and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build analytical data tools to process monitoring, ecological, and habitat data for national assessments.
  • Develop data management solutions to support new coastal monitoring networks.
  • Create guidance and automated features for tool handover to other users.
  • Provide data skills training and support to colleagues.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in developing automated data integration processes in ETL applications like SAFE FME.
  • Ability to work with spatial data and familiarity with tools such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Enterprise, Power BI, ‘R’, SQL, and Python.
  • Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality in data analysis.
  • Experience working as part of a dispersed team.
  • Understanding of Environment Agency monitoring data and systems (beneficial but not essential).
