Summary: The Data Technical Specialist role within the Natural Capital and Ecosystems Assessment (NCEA) programme focuses on developing automated processes for analyzing environmental monitoring data related to estuarine and coastal waters. The position involves building analytical tools, data management solutions, and providing training to colleagues. This role is integral to enhancing the understanding of the state of the English estuary and coastal water environment. The position requires collaboration with various teams to deliver high-quality data assessments and support ecological outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build analytical data tools to process monitoring, ecological, and habitat data for national assessments.
- Develop data management solutions to support new coastal monitoring networks.
- Create guidance and automated features for tool handover to other users.
- Provide data skills training and support to colleagues.
Key Skills:
- Experience in developing automated data integration processes in ETL applications such as SAFE FME.
- Ability to work with spatial data and familiarity with programs like ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Enterprise, Power BI, ‘R’, SQL, and Python.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality in data analysis.
- Experience working as part of a dispersed team and matching customer needs to data analysis.
- Familiarity with Environment Agency monitoring data and systems (beneficial but not essential).
