Summary: The Data Technical Specialist role within the Natural Capital and Ecosystems Assessment (NCEA) programme focuses on developing automated processes for analyzing and managing ecological data related to estuarine and coastal environments. The position involves building analytical tools, data management solutions, and providing training to colleagues. This role is integral to enhancing the understanding of environmental conditions at a national scale. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a dispersed team to deliver high-quality data assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build analytical data tools to process monitoring, ecological, and habitat data for national assessments.
- Develop data management solutions to support new coastal monitoring networks.
- Create guidance and support for tool handover to other users.
- Provide data skills training and support to colleagues.
Key Skills:
- Experience in developing automated data integration processes in ETL applications such as SAFE FME.
- Proficiency in working with spatial data and tools like ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Enterprise, Power BI, ‘R’, SQL, and Python.
- Ability to work well as part of a dispersed team.
- Strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Environment Agency monitoring data and systems (beneficial but not essential).
