Summary: The Data Lead for the Laboratory Digitisation Programme will spearhead the Data Workstream for implementing a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) within a global organization undergoing digital transformation. This role focuses on establishing structured and governed data foundations to enhance operational efficiency and regulatory integrity. The position requires strong leadership in data architecture, governance, and compliance within a complex environment. It offers a high-impact contract opportunity with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct current-state data assessment and catalogue laboratory data sources and storage locations.
- Produce a structured data inventory and storage register.
- Assess data formats, quality, duplication, and integration risks.
- Define structured data requirements for LIMS configuration.
- Specify mandatory fields, validation rules, and machine-readable standards.
- Define cleansing, migration, and rationalisation approaches.
- Translate digital product concepts into structured data requirements.
- Define datasets, aggregation principles, and analytics needs.
- Specify API exposure and reporting requirements.
- Establish system-of-record boundaries and ownership models.
- Ensure audit, retention, and regulatory controls are embedded.
- Own the Data Workstream plan, risks, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with architecture, integration, and LIMS teams.
- Provide structured reporting into the Programme Board.

- Proven experience leading enterprise data initiatives or programme data workstreams.
- Strong understanding of structured and unstructured data environments.

We are supporting a major laboratory digitisation programme within a global, standards-driven organisation undergoing significant digital transformation. This role will lead the Data Workstream for the implementation of a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), establishing structured, governed and future-ready data foundations to improve operational efficiency, protect regulatory integrity and enable future digital product innovation. This is a high-impact contract opportunity within a complex, compliance-led environment.
The Role:
The Data Lead will sit within the Enterprise Data function while reporting into the Programme Director for Laboratory Digitisation. You will ensure laboratory data is understood, structured, governed and aligned to enterprise standards — without owning laboratory process redesign. This is a strategic data role focused on architecture, discovery, governance and structured design.
