Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business units, corporate functions, regulators, and public authorities on all matters relating to data protection.
  • Ensure that internal data protection standards and practices align with global privacy commitments and applicable local legislation.
  • Regularly assess and enhance the existing data protection framework, identifying risks and ensuring appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of data protection training to ensure it meets legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the subject-matter expert for data privacy, providing advice to all areas of the organisation.
  • Supervise processes for data subject rights requests (DSARs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).
  • Promote a strong culture of data protection and compliance across the organisation.
  • Provide expert oversight of legal advice related to privacy and data protection.
  • Support the development and implementation of internal policies, guidelines, and procedures relating to data protection.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of processing activities (RoPA).
  • Collaborate with assurance and audit teams to ensure that reviews focus on high-risk areas and that follow-up actions are tracked.
  • Partner with internal investigation teams on matters related to data privacy incidents.
  • Work closely with IT and information security stakeholders on privacy and security issues, including incident response.
  • Ensure that data privacy investigations are risk-based, proportionate, and safeguard individuals’ rights.
  • Liaise with external regulators and data protection authorities as required.
  • Coordinate closely with legal and compliance teams, data privacy managers, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment of priorities and effective delivery of privacy guidance.
  • Maintain an active external network to benchmark best practices and contribute to broader industry discussions on data privacy.

Key Skills:

  • Experience as a Data Protection Officer or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and within a globally dispersed project team.

As the Data Protection Officer (DPO), you will ensure that personal data is handled in a lawful, ethical, and professional manner. You will provide independent oversight of compliance with the organisation’s internal data protection policies, global data privacy standards, and any applicable local legal requirements. You will also ensure that legal guidance on data protection is both clear and practical.

In this role, you will support the organisation in meeting its obligations under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other global privacy regulations.
