Role Description We’re looking for an experienced Privacy Officer / Contract Data Protection Officer (DPO) to work with us on a subcontract basis. You’ll support a variety of clients with GDPR compliance, privacy governance, and risk management, acting as a trusted advisor within your area of expertise. This role is ideal for a consultant who values flexibility, independence, and meaningful client relationships and enjoys helping organisations build strong, sustainable privacy practices.

Key Responsibilities As a subcontract Privacy Officer / DPO, you will:

• Act as a designated Data Protection Officer for multiple clients where required.
• Advise clients on UK GDPR, data protection law, and privacy best practices.
• Develop, review and maintain privacy documentation (privacy policies, ROPAs, DPIAs, etc.).
• Lead privacy risk assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments.
• Support clients in establishing effective privacy governance frameworks.
• Guide clients through data subject rights requests, incident response and breach management.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities where appropriate.
• Deliver privacy training and awareness sessions.

Qualifications Required Strong understanding of privacy regulations and data protection principles. Experience in privacy compliance and implementing GDPR requirements. Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals and their role in data protection. Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple clients with professionalism and autonomy. Relevant certifications such as PECB DPO, CIPP/E, CIPM, CISSP or similar.
