Summary: The Data Protection Officer role involves ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act and UK-GDPR within Police Forces. The position requires managing data protection documentation, providing guidance on legislation, and supporting data protection training across the organization. The role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days in the office, and is full-time with a contract duration of 12 months. Key Responsibilities:
- Managing compliance with statutory requirements imposed by the Data Protection Act (DPA 2018) and UK-GDPR.
- Guiding the completion of data protection documentation using the Data Capability Assurance Framework.
- Supporting the creation and review of bespoke Privacy Notices for Information Asset Owners/project authors.
- Providing guidance on law and legislation governing personal data use and supporting compliance during audits.
- Assisting in data protection training to enhance data literacy within the organization.
- Engaging with all functions and directorates for effective management of personal data.
- Managing expectations of key stakeholders regarding data protection documentation development.
- Supporting units within DDaT to ensure compliance in data-driven directives.
- Assessing personal data breaches for escalation and providing risk mitigation advice.
