On behalf of Fair Work Agency, we are looking for a Data Protection officer Inside IR35 for a 6 months contract based Hybrid London.
SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active SC clearance.
As a Data Protection Officer, your main responsibilities will be:
- Lead the development and implementation of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to support the transfer of functions into the Fair Work Agency.
- Identify, draft, negotiate and maintain Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs), Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and other information governance documentation.
- Establish and embed governance processes to ensure data is shared, accessed and handled appropriately across organisational boundaries.
- Work closely with programme, operational, legal, digital and corporate teams to ensure compliance with data protection and information governance requirements.
- Assess information risks and develop practical mitigation plans to support programme delivery.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on data protection, information governance and knowledge management matters.
- Ensure governance arrangements support uninterrupted operational delivery throughout the transition period.
- Develop sustainable processes and controls that can be adopted within the future Fair Work Agency operating model.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across FWA, HMRC and partner organisations to secure agreement and drive progress.
- Monitor governance actions, dependencies and risks, ensuring timely resolution of issues and delivery against programme milestones.
Essential Experience
- Experience leading or supporting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
- Experience developing and implementing Data Sharing Agreements, Memoranda of Understanding, or similar governance arrangements.
- Strong understanding of data protection legislation, information governance principles and compliance requirements.
- Experience establishing or improving governance processes, controls and operating procedures.
- Ability to identify information-related risks and implement proportionate mitigations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working across multiple teams and organisations.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build consensus and secure agreement.
- Experience working in a complex, fast-paced and evolving environment.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) experience.
- Experience of working within Government or the wider public sector.
- Experience supporting organisational change, transformation or integration programmes.
- Understanding of records management and information lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act requirements and government information governance standards.
