Summary: The Data Protection Lead / Privacy Lead role involves overseeing privacy and data protection practices within a government context, particularly in projects focused on AI and digital innovation. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and risk assessments.
  • Maintain and review Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs).
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and process documentation aligned with GDPR and the Data Protection Act.
  • Provide expert advice on Privacy by Design principles for digital services.
  • Support governance frameworks and ensure compliance across AI and digital initiatives.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in data protection and privacy advisory roles within public sector/government.
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, Data Protection Act, and related regulations.
  • Expertise in AI / ML and digital environments.
  • Hands-on experience with: DPIAs, Risk assessment, ROPAs, Policy and standards development.
  • Data governance experience.
  • Ability to take a pragmatic approach to privacy challenges in innovative projects.
  • Qualifications (Highly Desirable): CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent certifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in Privacy by Design and digital transformation projects.

We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Lead / Privacy Advisor to join a small, dynamic team at the heart of AI and Digital innovation within government. This is a unique opportunity to shape privacy and data protection practices in cutting-edge projects involving Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Digital transformation.

You’ll work within a small, collaborative team driving AI and digital innovation in government, ensuring privacy and compliance are embedded at every stage.
