Summary: The Data Protection Advisor will serve as the primary contact for all data protection matters, providing expert guidance to internal teams on compliance with data protection legislation. The role involves managing data protection records, overseeing privacy rights requests, and supporting data breach management. The position requires a strong understanding of the UK GDPR and DPA 2018, along with experience in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs). This is a 6-month contract based in the Midlands, requiring on-site presence once a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as initial contact point for all data protection matters.
  • Provide expert advice to internal teams on data protection issues, including lawful bases for processing, data sharing, and third-party agreements.
  • Manage and review data protection records, DPIAs, data processing agreements, LIAs, and other records ensuring compliance with data protection legislation.
  • Oversee and respond to privacy rights requests and complaints relating to data protection matters.
  • Support the management of data breaches, including investigation, documentation, and reporting to the ICO where required.
  • Maintain RoPAs.
  • Manage data protection risks.
  • Support activities relating to adherence to the ICO's Accountability Framework.
  • Ensure policies, processes, and systems comply with obligations under the UK GDPR & DPA 2018.
  • Deliver data protection training as appropriate.

Key Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience within a similar role.
  • Strong working knowledge of the UK GDPR and DPA 2018.
  • Experience conducting DPIAs.
  • Experience managing or supporting data subject rights requests.
  • CIPP/E and/or CIPM desirable.
