Summary: The Data Protection Automation Engineer role involves working with a blue-chip client to enhance data protection services through automation. Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to sprints, retrospective meetings, and daily stand-ups
- Work with product owners to handle backlogs and new requests
- Collaborate as part of a team and contribute individually
- Design, develop, test, and support automation for data protection services
- Develop reporting and monitoring capabilities for automation
- Provide engineering support for data protection automation
- Undertake product evaluation, new features, and versions
- Produce clear documentation for all automation
- Mentor less experienced staff members
Key Skills:
- Experience with collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence)
- Hands-on experience in DevOps SCM tooling, particularly GitHub
- Knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts
- Experience in configuration management and orchestration using Redhat Ansible
- Knowledge of software development languages, including Python and Bash
- Proficient in designing, developing, and testing Rest API services
- Experience with third-party API services
- Ability to convert Puppet code into other platforms (Ansible)
- Data Protection (Backup and Restore) experience
- General on-premise infrastructure experience
- Knowledge of Cohesity NetBackup and Commvault infrastructure

Blue chip client is looking for Data Protection Automation Engineer (Jira, Confluence, Devops SCM, GitHub, Scrum, Redhat Ansible, Python, Bash, API) - role is based Sheffield (60%) & Remote (40%)
MUST BE PAYE THROUGH UMBRELLA - INSIDE IR35.
Role Description:
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Data Protection Automation Engineer. You should have excellent knowledge of the scrum framework, with all its artifacts and techniques. You'll also need the ability to coordinate people and projects with your mind set on deliverables.
In this role, you will be expected to:
Contribute to sprints, retrospective meetings and daily stand-ups
Work with product owners to handle backlogs and new requests
Work collaboratively as part of a team and be an excellent individual contributor
Design, develop, test and support automation for the data protection services (NetBackup and CommVault) within the bank.
Design, develop, test and support reporting and monitoring capabilities for the automation.
Provide engineering support on the bank's data protection automation and their use.
Undertake product evaluation, new features, and versions.
Produce clear and comprehensive documentation for all automation produced.
Mentor less experienced members of staff
To be considered for this role, the following skills are Must have' requirements:
Highly practiced with use of collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence)
Hands on experience in Devops SCM tooling, with expert level use of GitHub
Have excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
Comprehensive experience in configuration management and orchestration using Redhat Ansible
Extensive knowledge of software development languages, including Python, Bash (recruiters please note, this is not a separate requirement and is in addition to Ansible/AAP - not instead of)
Proficient in designing, developing, and testing Rest API services.
Proficient in using third-party API services, and understanding how/where to locate their capability
Additional skills which will make you stand-out in addition to the above skills ( Nice to have'):
Ability to convert Puppet code into other platforms (Ansible)
Data Protection (Backup and Restore) experience
General on-premise infrastructure experience
Knowledgeable in Cohesity NetBackup and related infrastructure
