Summary: The Data Protection Automation Engineer role in Sheffield involves contributing to software development and storage automation, specifically for data protection services like NetBackup and CommVault. Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to sprints, retrospective meetings and daily stand-ups
- Work with product owners to handle backlogs and new requests
- Design, develop, test and support automation for the data protection services (NetBackup and CommVault) within the bank.
- Design, develop, test and support reporting and monitoring capabilities for the automation.
- Provide engineering support on the bank's data protection products and their standard usage.
- Undertake product evaluation, new features, and versions.
- Mentor less experienced members of staff
Key Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
- Extensive knowledge of software development languages, including Python, Ansible.
- Comprehensive experience in configuration management and orchestration using Redhat Ansible
- Proficient in designing, developing, and testing Rest API services.
- Hands on experience in Devops SCM tooling. GitLab
- Competent in Devops CICD tooling. Jenkins., CloudBees
- Skilled in using Devops collaboration tools., Jira., Confluence
- Knowledgeable in Veritas NetBackup and related infrastructure
- Knowledgeable in Commvault and related infrastructure
