Summary: The Data Protection and Assurance Officer at One Manchester is responsible for managing data protection procedures and ensuring compliance with GDPR regulations. This role involves working closely with senior management to assess and improve data governance and protection practices. The position is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract, primarily focused on safeguarding the organization's data integrity and privacy. The officer will also serve as the named Data Protection Officer, fulfilling responsibilities as defined by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage data protection procedures, processes, and technologies to ensure compliance with GDPR.
- Collaborate with the Risk and Assurance Manager to evaluate the effectiveness of policies and systems.
- Provide independent assurance to senior leadership and the Board regarding data protection practices.
- Act as the named Data Protection Officer for One Manchester.
- Advise the organization on GDPR requirements and maintain data protection obligations.
- Communicate effectively with senior management and Board members.
- Research, analyze, and present complex information to various audiences.
- Utilize IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, to support data management tasks.

We have an exciting position available for Data Protection and Assurance Officer to join us! You’ll be responsible for managing our procedures, disciplines, processes, awareness, technologies and in respect of privacy and data protection, ensuring that such activities are effective, fit for purpose and compliant with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Working with the Risk and Assurance Manager to test the risk, efficiency, effectiveness and compliance of our policies, procedures, systems and protocols, in order to provide independent/objective assurance to the SLT, ELT and the Board. Please note the post holder will be the named Data Protection Officer for One Manchester, fulfilling the responsibilities as defined by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

- Strong knowledge and experience of Data Governance and Data Protection compliance and legislation
- Committed to ensuring the group’s Data Protection stance and obligations are maintained, influencing others with clarity and independence
- Robustly challenge the status quo; determined, independent and resilient when questioned
- Strong communication and advocacy skills, valued as trustworthy by colleagues, management and third parties
- Ensure absolute integrity in advising the Group on its requirements under GDPR legislation
- Ability to work with Managers and Board members at a senior level
- Excellent organisation and planning skills with a strong level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Possess a high standard of data and information literacy with the ability to research, analyse and present complex information effectively to a range of audiences.
- A competent user of IT who has good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
