Summary: The Data Product Owner role is a 6-month contract based in Warwick, requiring on-site presence for 2-3 days per week. The position involves managing the lifecycle of data products, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring successful delivery of data solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience in data product ownership and agile methodologies, contributing to a long-term program of work within a leading organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage the lifecycle of data products from discovery through delivery, release, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define product vision, roadmap, and priorities aligned with organizational and Net Zero objectives.
  • Translate business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
  • Ensure data products deliver measurable business value and support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Prioritize backlog items and manage delivery in alignment with agile methodologies.
  • Engage with stakeholders across Network Design, Digital, Engineering, Operations, and Data teams to capture business needs and define product requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and requirement-gathering activities.
  • Act as the primary liaison between technical delivery teams and business users.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment across multiple workstreams.
  • Support the design and implementation of modern data solutions including Data Products and Data Fabric capabilities.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers, Architects, Developers, and Analysts to ensure successful product delivery.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to data governance, security, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Coordinate product testing, validation, release planning, and production deployment activities.
  • Support operational readiness and transition into business-as-usual support.
  • Establish and maintain documentation including product specifications, process flows, release documentation, and operational guidance.
  • Define and monitor KPIs and success metrics for data products.
  • Identify opportunities for optimization, automation, and innovation.
  • Promote best practices in product ownership, agile delivery, and data management.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience working as a Data Product Owner, Product Owner, Data Delivery Lead, or similar role.
  • Strong experience delivering and managing enterprise Data Products.
  • Experience working within Data Fabric or modern cloud-based data ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated experience capturing business requirements and translating them into deliverable solutions.
  • Experience managing products through full delivery lifecycle including release into production.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong documentation and process management capabilities.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical and business teams.
  • Desirable skills/knowledge/experience: Experience within utilities, energy, electricity transmission, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Understanding of transmission network operations and digital transformation programs.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
  • Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and master data concepts.
  • Exposure to analytics, reporting, and Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Understanding of Net Zero, sustainability, or energy transition initiatives.

Salary (Rate): £400 daily
