The Role
As a Data Platform Engineer, you'll work alongside Data Architects, Data Engineers and other technical specialists to support the ongoing evolution of a cloud data platform built on Microsoft technologies.
You'll be responsible for ensuring platform reliability, performance and scalability while contributing to the delivery of strategic data projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and optimise cloud data platform capabilities
- Manage platform performance, capacity and availability
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve platform incidents and service issues
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures
- Support the delivery of scalable data solutions across Azure and Microsoft Fabric
- Implement Platform as Code and DataOps best practices
- Monitor platform health and respond proactively to operational issues
- Support analytical workloads and business adoption through Power BI
- Collaborate closely with engineering, architecture and platform teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, standards and procedures
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a Data Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer or similar role
- Strong experience supporting and operating cloud-based data platforms
- Commercial experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure data services
- SQL Server administration and management experience
- Experience handling incidents, problem management and change requests within SLA-driven environments
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in complex and fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
