Summary: The Data Platform Architect role involves designing and implementing scalable and secure data solutions using Azure cloud services for a leading consulting partner. The position requires collaboration with data engineers, scientists, and business stakeholders to align data solutions with business objectives while optimizing performance and cost efficiency. The architect will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team. This is a contract position based in Birmingham with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect end-to-end data platforms using Azure cloud services.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses using Azure Data Services (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, etc.).
  • Define and implement data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to align data solutions with business goals.
  • Optimize data storage, processing, and analytics to enhance performance and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team.

Key Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in Azure data architecture.
  • Proven expertise in Azure Data Services (Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of big data technologies, ETL processes, and data modelling.
  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, or Scala.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in Azure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.
  • Consulting background.
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written).
