Data Modeller

Description

We are seeking a Data Modeler.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, sourcing, structuring, and modelling data within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring high-quality datasets are available to support analytics, AI, and business decision-making.

This role is focused on data discovery, data architecture, and data modelling rather than Spark development, dashboard engineering, or visualization platforms.

Responsibilities

• Identify, analyse, and document data sources required to support business and application requirements.
• Work closely with application, engineering, and business teams to understand data dependencies and lineage.
• Design and maintain logical and physical data models within GCP BigQuery.
• Develop scalable data structures and data integration approaches that support future AI and analytics capabilities.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, governance, and integrity across multiple data sources.
• Support data mapping, transformation, and optimisation activities.
• Collaborate with solution architects and data engineering teams to define best practices for cloud-native data solutions.
• Create documentation covering data models, metadata, lineage, and business definitions.
• Support the ongoing enhancement of the operational resilience data estate.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proven experience with BigQuery data architecture and modelling.
• Extensive experience in data modelling, including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
• Strong understanding of data governance, metadata, and data quality principles.
• experience identifying and integrating data from multiple enterprise systems.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• experience supporting AI, ML, or advanced analytics initiatives.
• Knowledge of operational resilience, risk, regulatory, or financial services environments.
• Understanding of cloud data architecture best practices.
• experience working within Agile delivery teams.
