Summary: The role of Data Modeller at UKRI involves collaborating with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for data warehouse projects, translating these into technical specifications, and conducting data analysis to ensure data integrity and performance. The position requires the design and development of dimensional data models and maintaining documentation while working closely with various teams to implement data warehouse solutions. This is a 6-month contract position based in a hybrid working arrangement in London or Swindon, classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders and business users to gather and document business requirements for data warehouse projects.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring alignment with data warehouse architecture and design principles, particularly Kimball DWH methodology.
- Conduct thorough data analysis to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and quality issues in existing data sources.
- Design and develop dimensional data models within the enterprise data warehouse project, ensuring optimal performance, data integrity, and scalability.
- Develop and maintain data mappings, data dictionaries, and data lineage documentation.
- Work closely with enterprise architects, developers, testers, and database administrators to implement designed data warehouse solutions, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Perform data profiling and mapping to guide data integration and migration activities.
- Support user acceptance testing and provide support during the implementation and deployment of data warehouse solutions.
Key Skills:
- Experience designing physical data models in enterprise data warehouse solutions.
- Experienced Data Modeller using modelling tooling.
- Strong understanding of database design using Kimball methodologies and proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with data querying and visualisation tooling including Talend Data Studio and Tableau.
- Strong problem-solving skills & Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
