Summary: The Data Migration Technical Project Lead/Manager will oversee the migration of data from existing systems to a new Policy Administration System (PAS) within the Insurance/Financial Services sector. This role requires strong project management and communication skills, along with a proven track record in delivering large-scale programs. The candidate will be responsible for technical reviews, risk management, and ensuring the successful execution of the migration process. The position is a 6-month initial assignment and operates in a hybrid model with one day per week in the London office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical reviews of existing data migration approaches, frameworks, and tools, providing actionable recommendations for improvements.
  • Review data migration quality assurance strategies and recommend enhancements.
  • Maintain a risk and issue log for data migration delivery, updated weekly.
  • Revise migration workstream plans based on governance recommendations.
  • Prepare weekly status reports for the Programme Director and relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop a detailed technical run book for migration execution, capturing timings and outcomes.
  • Review migration error handling and rollback options, updating the run book accordingly.
  • Manage the data migration change request process, assessing impacts and updating delivery plans.
  • Provide weekly Data Migration Status reports on progress against deliverables.

Data Migration Technical Project Lead / Manager My client require a hybrid candidate who is proven as a Data Migration Technical Lead with excellent project management and communication skills with a background delivering large scale programmes within the Insurance / FS sector. ** 6 month initial outside IR35 assignment **

Summary: Use specialist knowledge and experience regarding insurance Policy Administration System (PAS) data migrations, or similar data migrations within insurance or wider financial services, to complete the build and run of a migration from existing system(s) into a new PAS, including supporting applications.

Deliverables:

  • Technical review of existing data migration approach, framework and tools with specific actionable recommendations for improvements, considering desired timelines and team skills
  • Technical review of data migration quality assurance strategy and approach, again with specific actionable recommendations for improvements
  • Risk and Issue log for data migration delivery and run, reviewed and updated at least weekly through the remainder of the project
  • Revised migration workstream plan reflecting actions from the recommendations agreed through programme governance
  • Weekly status reports to the Programme Director plus relevant slides for the Steering Committee and other regular reporting packs
  • Revised migration detailed technical run book that is fit for purpose and contains the required level of detail to ensure error-free execution, plus captures timings and outcomes for each test and live run for later analysis
  • Review of migration error handling and roll back options, recommending any updates and including agreed items in the run book
  • Run the data migration change request process during the project, assess the impact of any changes and include agreed changes in the delivery plan and run book
  • Data Migration Status report - weekly reports on progress of the workstream and against the deliverables above to the Programme Director plus relevant slide(s) for the Steering Committee and other regular reporting packs

We require a candidate who can own the data migration for this programme, who can face off to both the 3rd party system integrators and also the clients steer co. They work a hybrid model with around one day per week in the London office.
