Data Mapping Analyst/Consultant - Asset Servicing
Location: City of London, four days per week on site
Contract: Initial six months - Inside IR35

We're looking for a Data Mapping Analyst or Consultant to support a global asset servicing firm with client onboarding into its Middle Office environment.
As new clients come on board, their data needs to be understood, mapped and integrated into internal systems so downstream processes can run accurately. You'll work with business and technology teams to translate incoming data into clear mapping requirements, investigate discrepancies and support testing through to onboarding.
This is a hands-on delivery role suited to someone who combines strong data analysis with an understanding of derivatives and investment operations.
What you'll be doing
- Analyse incoming client datasets, message structures and file layouts to understand how they map to internal Middle Office systems.
- Produce source-to-target mappings covering field definitions, transformation rules, mandatory values and exceptions.
- Work through differences in instrument identifiers, trade attributes, reference data and transaction lifecycle events.
- Investigate missing, inconsistent or incorrectly formatted data and agree resolutions with the relevant teams.
- Work with onboarding, operations and technology stakeholders to clarify requirements and downstream dependencies.
- Support testing and reconciliation, checking that mapped data is complete, accurate and fit for its intended use.
- Maintain clear mapping documentation and capture reusable rules to improve subsequent client onboardings.
What we're looking for
- Practical data mapping experience within financial services, ideally in asset servicing, investment management, custody or Middle Office operations.
- An understanding of derivatives, including core trade attributes and lifecycle events.
- Exposure to Bloomberg or BlackRock Aladdin. Experience with either platform is sufficient.
- Experience interpreting or working with XML, JSON or HTML. You only need experience with one of these formats.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work methodically through complex datasets and mapping issues.
- Confidence working with both operational stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
- Clear documentation skills and the ability to explain data issues and requirements in straightforward terms.
Useful additional experience
- Client onboarding, system migrations or data integration projects.
- SQL or advanced Excel for data interrogation, validation and reconciliation.
- Understanding of downstream processes such as trade processing, position reporting, settlement or reconciliation.
- Experience supporting UAT and resolving data-related defects.
