Data Loss Protection Engineer

Location: Leeds, hybrid (2 days per week onsite)

Day Rate: £550 - 600 per day, Outside IR35

Contract: 5 months, starting November, with a strong possibility of extension

An opportunity has opened for a Data Loss Protection Engineer to join a growing security delivery team investing heavily in strengthening its security posture and reducing the risk of data loss, cyber attacks and security breaches.

You'll play a hands-on role in delivering key security improvements, including implementing KnowBe4, configuring Microsoft Purview and supporting a migration from Microsoft 365 E3 to E5 licensing.

You'll work alongside a security squad delivering multiple initiatives across the wider security portfolio.

Data Loss Protection Engineer Responsibilities

  • Implement and configure KnowBe4 solutions to strengthen data loss prevention and email security controls.
  • Build, configure and optimise Microsoft Purview, including DLP policies and information protection controls.
  • Support the migration from Microsoft 365 E3 to E5, enabling enhanced security, compliance and data protection capabilities.
  • Review existing email security controls and identify opportunities to improve protection against data leakage and malicious activity.
  • Help strengthen controls around sensitive data, access and sharing across the Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Support the secure adoption of Microsoft Copilot, helping reduce the risk of sensitive information exposure.
  • Collaborate with security engineers and project stakeholders to deliver security improvements and reduce organisational risk.

Data Loss Protection Engineer Requirements

  • Hands-on experience implementing and configuring KnowBe4. This is essential.
  • Strong practical experience with Microsoft Purview, particularly DLP configuration and policy implementation.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 security and compliance capabilities, ideally including E3-to-E5 migrations.
  • Understanding of email security controls and data protection principles.
  • Ability to configure, test and improve security controls within an enterprise environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to deliver within a project-focused security team.
  • Experience controlling Microsoft Copilot data exposure and implementing advanced email security controls would be advantageous.
