Summary: The Data & Information Strategy Architect (SC Cleared) role involves leading a strategic engagement in a secure public sector environment, focusing on data architecture and information management. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the assessment of the current data and information landscape, including data models, integration patterns and metadata management
  • Define a target-state information architecture, positioning ontology and semantic models as the foundation for interoperability and data reuse
  • Develop a technology strategy for ontology adoption, evaluating tooling such as graph databases, triple stores and knowledge platforms
  • Provide strategic guidance to senior stakeholders, translating complex architectural concepts into clear business outcomes
  • Assess and recommend appropriate ontology standards and frameworks (e.g. OWL, RDF, SKOS) aligned to organisational needs
  • Establish architectural governance and principles, ensuring outputs are aligned to a coherent long-term strategy
  • Advise on organisational and operational implications, including data ownership, stewardship and lifecycle management

Key Skills:

  • SC Clearance (already in place)
  • Strong experience in enterprise architecture, information architecture or technology strategy, particularly within data-centric environments
  • Demonstrable expertise in ontology and semantic technologies, including frameworks such as OWL, RDF/RDFS and SKOS
  • Experience working within secure or regulated environments (e.g. Defence, National Security etc.)
  • Strong understanding of knowledge graph and graph database technologies (e.g. Neo4j, Apache Jena, Stardog, Amazon Neptune)
  • Ability to define and communicate architectural strategy, translating technical concepts into clear, business-focused narratives
  • Proven experience engaging with senior stakeholders and decision-makers within complex organisations
