Data Governance Specialist

Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Data Governance Specialist to work with a key client.

Job Description:
The Data Governance Specialist supports the implementation of data governance controls, standards, documentation and adoption activities. The role helps ensure data assets are owned, defined, catalogued, controlled and used responsibly. The Data Governance Specialist will establish strict policies, monitor quality and ensuring regulatory compliance, this role transforms raw data into a trustworthy, secure, and easily accessible corporate asset that drives confident business decisions.

Key Accountabilities:
* Implement data governance standards and processes. Formalizes and embeds consistent data governance frameworks, policies, and operational processes across all organizational business units and priority digital initiatives.
* Support data ownership and stewardship. Establishes organizational accountability by identifying, onboarding, and supporting business data owners and stewards to manage localized data domains.
* Coordinate data quality and cataloguing activities. Coordinates the continuous expansion of the enterprise data catalog and ensures data quality monitoring activities align with corporate data maturity milestones.
* Support AI governance and responsible use controls. Mitigates risk by documenting and maintaining compliance artifacts, ethical guardrails, and validation controls for operational Artificial Intelligence models and agentic workflows.
* Drive governance awareness and reporting. Enhances enterprise data literacy through targeted training programs while delivering transparent compliance reporting to executive leadership.

Competencies:
* Builds strong partnerships across business, IT, BI, SAP, digital, cybersecurity, finance, procurement, and vendor teams to create enterprise-wide data solutions.
* Enables trusted data and insights that improve customer experience, operational performance, and business decision-making.
* Coaches data engineers, BI specialists, architects, and business teams on data architecture, data governance, modeling, platform best practices, and cost-aware design.
* Identifies data duplication, system complexity, poor data quality, integration gaps, reporting inconsistencies, and cost inefficiencies, and resolves them through sustainable architecture.
* Introduces modern data platforms, cloud architecture, SaaS integration, automation, AI/ML-ready architecture, advanced analytics capabilities, and FinOps practices.
* Works across complex SAP, Microsoft, SaaS, cloud, and on-premise environments while adapting to changing business, technology, and cost priorities.
* Support governance workflows, ownership, stewardship, standards and action tracking.
* Coordinate metadata, definitions, lineage and catalogue information for priority domains.
* Track quality issues, owners, remediation actions and governance evidence.
