Summary: The Data Governance Consultant role focuses on supporting clients in regulated industries, particularly in Insurance and the London Market. The consultant will be responsible for shaping governance frameworks and embedding practical controls while working closely with senior stakeholders. This position requires a hands-on approach to operationalize governance in complex environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data governance and management, particularly within regulated sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shaping and refining enterprise data governance strategies
  • Designing and implementing governance operating models
  • Establishing data ownership models (Data Owners, Stewards, Custodians)
  • Defining policies, standards, and control frameworks
  • Supporting regulatory and compliance alignment (e.g., FCA, PRA, Solvency II, IFRS 17)
  • Improving data quality frameworks and controls
  • Driving metadata management and data lineage initiatives
  • Supporting data cataloguing and business glossary implementation
  • Facilitating governance forums and stakeholder workshops
  • Embedding governance into change and transformation programmes

Key Skills:

  • 8+ years’ experience in Data Governance or Data Management roles
  • Extensive experience within regulated industries (Insurance / London Market highly desirable)
  • Designing and implementing enterprise data governance frameworks
  • Defining and operationalising data ownership models
  • Data quality frameworks and remediation processes
  • Regulatory data requirements and audit readiness
  • Metadata, lineage and catalog implementation
  • Data policy and standards development
  • Stakeholder engagement at senior leadership level
  • Experience with governance tooling such as Unity Catalog and Microsoft Purview (desirable)
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks)
  • Familiarity with modern data architecture concepts (Lakehouse, Data Mesh, etc.)

Data Governance Consultant Outside IR35 3–6 Months £700 - £800 per day Regulated Industries (Insurance & London Market focus) We are seeking a highly experienced Data Governance Consultant to support our clients operating in regulated environments, including Insurance and the London Market. This role is suited to a hands-on governance specialist who can operate at both strategic and delivery levels, shaping governance frameworks while embedding practical controls into live programmes. You will work directly with senior stakeholders (CDOs, Heads of Data, Risk & Compliance leaders) to design, implement and mature data governance capabilities in complex, regulated environments. You will play a critical role in helping organisations move from fragmented, reactive governance to structured, scalable, business-aligned data governance frameworks. Day to day, you will be involved in:

  • Shaping and refining enterprise data governance strategies
  • Designing and implementing governance operating models
  • Establishing data ownership models (Data Owners, Stewards, Custodians)
  • Defining policies, standards, and control frameworks
  • Supporting regulatory and compliance alignment (e.g., FCA, PRA, Solvency II, IFRS 17)
  • Improving data quality frameworks and controls
  • Driving metadata management and data lineage initiatives

Required Experience We are looking for consultants with strong, demonstrable experience in:

  • Designing and implementing enterprise data governance frameworks
  • Defining and operationalising data ownership models
  • Data quality frameworks and remediation processes
  • Regulatory data requirements and audit readiness
  • Metadata, lineage and catalog implementation

  • Technical & Tooling Experience (Desirable)
