Summary: The Data Governance Lead will oversee and drive the implementation of data governance initiatives within an evolving organization, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. This role involves managing project delivery, external suppliers, and building internal capabilities for sustainable governance practices. The position requires strong leadership and stakeholder engagement to promote data governance as a core business priority. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in data governance frameworks and strategic leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure data governance initiatives align with organizational objectives, manage risks, and track progress.
- Act as the intelligent customer for consultancy work, validating approaches and ensuring quality delivery.
- Define and implement a structured knowledge transfer plan for internal teams on data governance frameworks.
- Engage stakeholders at all levels to build consensus and promote data governance as a core business priority.
Key Skills:
- Proven understanding of data governance principles and frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM, CDMC).
- Significant experience leading data governance initiatives within public sector or geospatial organizations.
- Deep knowledge of data management, data quality, metadata, and regulatory compliance practices.
- Ability to align data governance practices with strategic objectives and articulate the business case for investment.
- Experienced in project management methodologies (MSP, Agile, or equivalent).
- Strong supplier management skills to ensure external vendors meet milestones and deliverables.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to translate complex data governance concepts into actionable business value.
