We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Architect to support a major Data Governance transformation programme within a large UK utilties company. This is a hands-on consulting and architecture role, working alongside senior Data Governance and delivery specialists to help design and implement an enterprise-wide Data Governance capability.
The programme will cover Data Governance operating models, ownership and stewardship, metadata, data catalogue, lineage, Data Quality, retention, data sharing, regulatory assurance and AI readiness.
A key part of the role will be helping assess and shape the technology architecture supporting Data Governance, including Microsoft Purview and Collibra.
Key responsibilities:
- Define Data Governance architecture and technical roadmap
- Assess the existing data, technology and governance landscape
- Design Data Governance operating models and supporting architecture
- Support Data Owner and Data Steward models
- Define approaches to metadata, catalogue, lineage and critical data assets
- Assess Microsoft Purview and Collibra capabilities against business requirements
- Support governance tooling selection and implementation
- Design and support practical pilots/Proof of Concepts
- Define integration requirements across governance platforms, data sources and existing systems
- Support Data Quality, retention and data sharing requirements
- Work closely with business, data, architecture, security, privacy and technology stakeholders
- Develop practical implementation and transition roadmaps
- Support knowledge transfer and adoption across the organisation
We are particularly interested in consultants with:
- Strong Data Governance Architecture experience
- Enterprise Data Architecture experience
- Experience implementing Data Governance within large, complex organisations
- Hands-on knowledge of Collibra and/or Microsoft Purview
- Data Catalogue, Metadata Management and Data Lineage experience
- Data Quality and Data Management experience
- Experience designing Data Governance operating models
- Strong understanding of Data Ownership and Stewardship
- Experience integrating governance platforms with wider data estates
- Azure/Microsoft data platform knowledge
- Experience working within regulated environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
Experience within utilities, energy, infrastructure, financial services, government or another highly regulated environment would be particularly useful.
You do not need to be Collibra or Microsoft Purview certified. We are primarily interested in people who have genuinely designed and implemented enterprise Data Governance solutions and can demonstrate practical experience of governance technology.
