Data Governance Analyst

Key Responsibilities

  • Profile and analyse data to identify quality issues affecting management information and reporting.
  • Investigate data defects and perform root cause analysis to trace issues back to source systems or business processes.
  • Define and document business rules to improve data quality and consistency.
  • Design reconciliation processes and data quality controls.
  • Work collaboratively with business and technical teams to implement sustainable improvements.
  • Support the transition of data quality controls into operational ownership.
  • Promote best practice in data governance and data quality management.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Active SC Clearance (must already be held).
  • Proven experience in data quality and data governance.
  • Strong experience with:
  • Data profiling
  • Defect analysis
  • Root cause investigation
  • Reconciliation and control design
  • Business rules definition and documentation
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to interrogate and analyse complex datasets.
  • Experience working across technical and business teams to resolve data quality issues.

Desirable Experience

  • Data governance frameworks.
  • Data lineage and data catalogue tools.
  • Working closely with MI and reporting teams to improve upstream data quality.
  • Experience transitioning data quality controls into operational ownership.
  • Public sector experience.

You understand that improving data quality is as much about influencing people as it is about analysing data.

You're comfortable challenging existing processes, working with multiple stakeholders, and helping teams understand why data quality matters.

Rather than treating the symptoms, you're driven to identify the root cause and implement solutions that deliver lasting improvements.
