Summary: The Data Engineering Lead role involves overseeing the delivery of data products within a modern data platform environment, specifically within the Data Architecture, Platform & Engineering division. The position requires collaboration with various architects and mentoring of data engineers, ensuring adherence to governance and development standards. This is a hybrid role based in Gloucester, with an initial contract duration of six months and potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and architecture of the enterprise data platform, working closely with Enterprise, Solution, and Data Architects.
- Help define and implement data architecture strategies aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Data Architects to design and evolve the platform data model, including entities, relationships, and data attributes.
- Support onboarding, mentoring, and coaching of data engineers within the platform team.
- Ensure the platform is used correctly, including governance, access controls, and development standards.
- Assist with the decommissioning of legacy data platforms and support migration to modern data solutions.
Key Skills:
- Technical experience required: Snowflake, Matillion (other ETL tools), SQL.
- Experience working as a Data Engineering Lead within Financial Services.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data architecture, and data governance.
- Experience leading or mentoring data engineering teams.
- Ability to work closely with architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders.
- Experience supporting data platform modernisation or legacy system decommissioning is beneficial.
Salary (Rate): £600 daily
