Summary: The Data Engineer role at RNLI is a temporary position for up to 24 months, focused on implementing and managing a new Data Lakehouse to enhance data-driven decision-making in lifesaving activities. The successful candidate will work within a dedicated Data department, utilizing advanced technology to improve data management and analysis. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a vital mission of saving lives at sea through effective data utilization. The role is hybrid, allowing for a combination of home and on-site work in Poole, Dorset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage a new Data Lakehouse with the latest technology.
- Utilize Data Integration, Master Data, and Data Analytics technologies.
- Provide best practice approaches for integrating systems and master data sets.
- Collaborate with Analysis teams to provide data and analysis output.
Key Skills:
- Experience with Data or Analytics platforms (Data Management, Data Integration, Master Data, Data Migrations, Data Marts/Warehouses).
- Proficiency in complex ETL routines and tools.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
- Experience with Databricks and Data Lakehouse, particularly Medallion Architecture.
- Familiarity with various data formats and protocols (JSON, XML, CSV, Parquet).
- Data modelling and data wrangling skills.
- Experience working with APIs is beneficial.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile environments.
- Familiarity with source control and task management tools, especially GitHub.
