Summary: We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a major Utilities organisation on a contract basis. The role involves designing, building, and optimising cloud-based data platforms, with a focus on Snowflake and Microsoft Azure services. The position offers a hybrid working model and requires expertise in the Utilities sector. The successful candidate will contribute to business intelligence and operational reporting initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
- Build and optimise enterprise data solutions using Snowflake and Azure cloud technologies.
- Develop and manage data ingestion frameworks from multiple internal and external data sources.
- Implement data modelling solutions to support reporting, analytics, and operational use cases.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, governance, and security standards are maintained.
- Collaborate with Data Architects, Business Analysts, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise data platform performance and reliability.
- Support CI/CD deployment processes and infrastructure automation.

Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer in enterprise-scale environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake Data Cloud.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure data services, including: Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure SQL, Azure DevOps.
- Strong SQL development and query optimisation skills.
- Experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling.
- Experience with Python or other Scripting languages for data engineering tasks.
- Experience implementing data governance, security, and data quality controls.
