Summary: The role of Data Engineer focuses on developing and implementing a new PowerBI platform within a banking environment, requiring strong analytical and technical skills. The successful candidate will work closely with a small Data & Analytics IT team to support existing data systems and enhance reporting capabilities. Key responsibilities include designing interactive dashboards, managing project engagements, and ensuring data quality. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development and implementation of a new PowerBI platform, along with support for existing data & MI systems built using SQL Analysis Services & SQL Reporting Services.
- Design, develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to visualize key metrics and performance indicators.
- Support and enhance existing reporting and warehousing infrastructure via SQL Analysis Services data cubes and SQL Reporting Services reports.
- Contribute to the support and continual development of the data landscape to ensure optimal performance and availability.
- Work closely with business analysts and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable data solutions.
- Communicate complex data insights effectively to non-technical teams and offer analytical support.
- Manage & execute project engagement along all change phases: requirements, functional specifications, technical analysis/design, build, test, and deployment.
- Maintain detailed documentation of the data landscape and provide knowledge transfer to relevant stakeholders and peers when necessary.
- Monitor and ensure data quality by implementing data validation checks and governance processes throughout.
- Recommend best of the breed solutions to improve SDLC, bringing the best industry standards to the bank.
- Adhere to all Group policies and procedures, standards and regulations.
- Update existing technical documentation and produce new as required.
Key Skills:
- 4+ years experience working with PowerBI and 2 years with Azure Data Lake Storage & Data Bricks.
- Knowledge of SQL Analysis Services, SQL Reporting Services, Python, and advanced Excel.
- Exposure to ETL tools (preferably Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services).
- Broad IT knowledge, skills, and experience in development tools, processes, and policies.
- Self-motivated with effective communication skills.
- Accomplished problem-solver with a systematic and analytical approach.
- Able to interpret business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Effective stakeholder management skills.

Excellent opportunity opens for a Data Engineer with a strong PowerBI & Analytics background to join a growing Bank in a crucial role. The successful candidate will work within a small Data & Analytics IT team and bring their strong data & analytical technology skills (preferably within the financial sector).
- Main responsibilities will be the development and implementation of a new PowerBI platform, along with the support of existing data & MI systems built using SQL Analysis Services & SQL Reporting Services.
- Technology stack will include PowerBI, Azure Data Lake Storage, Data Bricks, Python & SQL databases.
- Strong PowerBI development and administration skills are crucial and previous experience using ADLS & Data Bricks is desired.
The SME will have background and experience in implementing PowerBI platforms, and proven experience in analysing complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that will inform strategic decisions.
Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities

Required Qualifications and Experience
- 4 + years experience working with PowerBI and 2 years with Azure Data Lake Storage & Data Bricks.
- Knowledge of SQL Analysis Services, SQL Reporting Services, Python and advanced Excel would be advantageous.
- Exposure to etl tools (preferable Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services) would be beneficial.
- Broad IT knowledge, skills and experience - including appropriate tools, processes and policies used in the development space.
- Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and communicate effectively with professional staff and customers throughout the business.
- Accomplished problem-solver with a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving who constructively challenges requirements, keeps an open mind and can develop innovative solutions.

- Ability to apply Bank policies, procedures, standards and regulations to projects.
- Experience with Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies.
