Summary: The Data Engineer (SC & NPPV3) role involves designing and delivering data migration, pipelines, and analytics for a critical new system, while integrating with legacy systems. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure data quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. This is a 6-month contract based in the West Midlands, with occasional visits required. The role is classified as outside IR35 and offers a competitive daily rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable data pipelines to support migration and reporting requirements
- Deliver ETL/ELT processes across Legacy systems (Athena/Connect) and Niche RMS
- Drive data transformation, cleansing, and validation to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance
- Collaborate with suppliers, architects, and stakeholders on data models and migration strategies
- Support trial migrations, user acceptance testing (UAT), dress rehearsals, and final cutover
- Produce high-quality, reporting-ready datasets and analytics outputs
- Ensure alignment with governance, compliance, and data quality standards throughout the life cycle
Key Skills:
- Strong experience as a Data Engineer (SC & NPPV3) within large-scale transformation or migration programmes
- Proven expertise in data migration, transformation, and large dataset handling
- Advanced experience in ETL/ELT processes and building robust data pipelines
- Solid understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and data lakes
- Experience working with Azure (preferred but not essential)
- Strong grasp of data governance, quality frameworks, and compliance standards
- Experience working with large operational datasets
- Exposure to Niche RMS (highly desirable)
- Background in policing or criminal justice environments (highly advantageous)

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer (SC & NPPV3) to support with designing and delivering data migration, pipelines, and the analytics layer underpinning a critical new system, while working across Legacy systems (Athena/Connect) and Niche RMS.
Your responsibilities as the Data Engineer (SC & NPPV3):
